The Axons in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are major cinematic villains. You should do this against the vistas that you encounter early in the game.

OVERVIEW
- In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you will encounter the formidable Axons.
- In Act 2, the Visages boss is among the first people you battle.
- Before the main battle, you can weaken the Visages boss by destroying the masks of Joy, Anger, and Sadness.
In Act 2 of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you will encounter two Axons. In essence, you will battle these enormous beings throughout your journey. Visages is one of them now. You have two options for how this battle will proceed: normally or with significant difficulty.
Using masks to debuff you and buff and heal itself is how the Visages boss operates. However, if you first embark on a side adventure, you can negate all of that. By exploring three different areas and taking down three mini-bosses, you can locate and destroy three of these masks on the island where the Axon is located.
Expedition 33 is a simple method for reducing Visages in Clare Obscur.
Visages and other axons are more difficult to defeat than the other foes you’ll meet early on in Claire Obscur: Expedition 33. You will receive an invitation straight from the boss when you arrive at the Visages’ island. But there are several ways in which this is a trap. Going directly to the arena will expose you to Visages’ full strength.
Visages, a massive Axon wearing several masks, fights with more than just its brute force. Anger, joy, and sadness are the emotional manifestations that it draws strength from. These feelings manifest as three strong masks that have the ability to either greatly enhance Visages itself, apply damaging debuffs to your team, or heal the boss.
And that’s the exciting part: by taking care of the masks in advance, you can weaken it. You must investigate three optional side areas on the island, each of which represents a fundamental emotion the masks stand for, in order to weaken Visages before the battle starts. For that emotion, each Vale also has a mini-boss.
- The Joyous Vale is where the Jovial Moissonneuse can be found. When you defeat it, the Joy mask will be taken off during the battle with Visages.
- Anger Vale: The Seething Boucheclier is located here. This one is in charge of using the Anger mask to increase the boss’s damage.
- Last but not least, the Sadness mask, which can debuff your party, is held by the Sorrowful Chapelier.
If you don’t want the challenge, don’t accept the invitation at first.

It’s tempting to go straight to Visages after getting the invitation, but doing so puts you in a challenging situation. When you use Visages, all three masks will be visible if you choose not to use the optional paths. Go destroy the masks first, unless you enjoy challenging fights and are a glutton for punishment.
The second stage of the battle, which pits the Mask Keeper against the real Axon, starts as soon as Visages is defeated. Your earlier work in the Vales really pays off here. Should you have omitted the optional Vales, the Mask Keeper will call forth those masks once more. You will then have to deal with a boss who is getting more powerful.
Like the majority of turn-based action role-playing games, Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 gives you more points for preparation than for strength. Therefore, don’t assume that the Visages’ invitation is genuine. Remove the masks first, then confront the Axon as you see fit.
