How Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered’s Bound Bow Can Be Obtained Early

Obtain the strong, weightless Bound Bow at the beginning of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Remastered with the help of this timeless, revolutionary hack.

OVERVIEW

  • Early access to the Bound Bow, a potent, weightless Daedric weapon, is made possible by a cunning glitch.
  • Minutes after the game begins, players can use this glitch to keep the bow indefinitely.
  • This bow gives stealth archers a significant early-game advantage.

Many treasures can be found in Cyrodiil’s dungeons, but few can match the strength of a weightless Daedric bow that can be obtained just minutes after breaking out of jail. One of the most enjoyable surprises in video games is the Bound Bow exploit in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. It’s a glitch that’s so well-balanced that it seems like a deliberate secret.

This particular quirk was retained in Bethesda’s remaster, even though it smoothed out many of the 2006 classic’s rough edges. It doesn’t really matter if that choice was made out of nostalgia or carelessness because the end result allows players to use ethereal Daedric weapons before most people have even found their first rusty iron sword.

Remastered: Activating a Permanent Bound Bow in Oblivion

Go southwest of the Imperial City to the Doomstone of Cidri Ashak to begin your adventure. You can easily overlook it if you’re not looking, but it’s a small, unguarded standing stone on the riverbank (look for a bridge), ready to bestow its power on the worthy (you).

When the stone is activated, a 120-second Bound Bow spell is granted, which is barely enough time to tackle any of Cyrodiil’s challenges. The interesting part, though, is that a peculiarity in Oblivion Remastered’s enchantment system can make this temporary gift permanent.

First, use the Doomstone to activate the bow:

Then shoot a few arrows at nearby animals or rocks to cause minor damage. Use a repair hammer on the bow after it has been damaged; any hammer will work, even the least expensive ones you can buy at any general store.

The next crucial step is to open your inventory, drop the repaired bow to the ground, and then use the rest menu to wait for an hour. The spell ends after an hour, but the actual bow stays in the same spot where you dropped it. Now that you have it, you have a permanent, level-free, zero-weight Daedric bow.

Although the remastered version’s improved graphics make the bow’s spectral blue glow even more striking against Cyrodiil’s realistic landscapes, the exploit remains the same.

Why the Bound Bow is ideal for sly archers

This bow has more than just a lovely face. Because it weighs nothing and deals damage comparable to late-game weapons, you can carry it with a full inventory without incurring any penalties. 150 Daedric arrows, the strongest early-stage ammunition, are included with every summon.

The Bound Bow is a boon for stealth builds. When paired with sneak attack bonuses, it can one-shot a lot of opponents before they even realize you’re there. It scales with your marksman skill. Archers with this bow are in control right away, while mages and warriors face early limitations.

Purists may contend that this strategy compromises Oblivion Remastered’s thoughtfully crafted progression system. They’re probably correct, but breaking the rules in a single-player role-playing game, particularly one with Oblivion’s infamous level-scaling difficulties, is unquestionably satisfying.
